Tillage Construction located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana was awarded the “HUBZone Certified Business of the Year Excellence in Government Contracting” award. Mr. Keith Tillage received the award on behalf of Tillage Construction at the Louisiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center’s (LA PTAC) and Southeastern Small Business Development Center’s conference and trade fair held at Forrest Grove Plantation in Denham Springs, Friday, March 2nd. Tillage Construction is a full service commercial construction company with comprehensive packages that allow customers a single point of contact. Tillage specializes in new construction, commercial renovation, heavy construction and demolition. During fiscal year 2006, Tillage Construction received contract awards from Department of Air Force, Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Dept of Agriculture, Baton Rouge Community College and the East Baton Rouge School Board.

Southeastern’s Small Business Development Center is a partnership program funded by the US Small Business Administration, Louisiana Economic Development, and Southeastern Louisiana University. The SBDC provides free consulting and low or no cost training to businesses in its service area. Just last year, the SBDC consulted with over 500 startup and existing companies and provided training for over 1000 persons, resulting in over $100 million in capital formation.

LA PTAC receives funding from the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to assist Louisiana based businesses with government contracting — local, state, and federal. During 2006, LA PTAC assisted their Louisiana based businesses in securing $629 million in government contracts.
